Enthusiasm and preparation

The marathon was not a failure because it hurt. It was a lesson because I had confused enthusiasm with preparation. This time I want to respect the process long enough that race day is not a negotiation with my past self.

What I want to remember

Wanting to reach a finish line and preparing for it are different parts of the same journey. I want to give both the attention they deserve.
